Regional technological capabilities and green opportunities in Europe

Abstract The goal of the paper is to elaborate an empirical overview green technological development in European regions. This a timely pursuit considering ambitious commitments stipulated recent Green Deal achieve climate neutrality by 2050. Our analysis organised three steps. First, we map geographical distribution innovative activities Europe and profile regions terms capabilities. Second, metric identify regions’ innovation potential. Third, check whether possessing comparative advantage specific, non-green, domains associated with region’s capacity develop technologies.
